linn of tummel Linn of Tummel

The River Tummel
The main bulk of the river has rapids ranging from grades 2-3.  Many are fun and technical such as 'zig and zag', 'the grave yard' and 'sharks tooth'. The crews involvement is paramount on this river so lots of instruction is given in paddling at the beginning of the trip.

The Tummel is action packed from start to finish.

The final rapid, the Linn of Tummel is a grade 4, 2 tier waterfall drop which ranges between 18 and 25 foot depending on the water levels of the loch, be sure to be holding on!

zig and zag Zig and Zag

The River Tummel starts its life 60 miles to the west of Pitlochry on the windswept Rannoch Moor close to Glencoe. It begins as the River Ba and runs east passing through numerous lochs including Loch Ba, Loch Laidon, Loch Eigheach, Loch Rannoch, Dunalastair Water, Loch Tummel and finally Loch Faskally, until it reaches the main stem of the River Tay at Ballinluig.
