What is it?

A river descent using purpose built inflatable rafts. The rivers descended vary in severity. The river grading system runs from 1-6 with 1 being the gentlest and 6 being madness. Freespirits runs rivers up to grade 5.

These rivers were once the domain of highly experienced kayakers, but due to the advancement in the development of inflatable rafts and the intensive training of guides it has opened the river up to just about anyone who wishes to take part.

What Experience is Needed?

None whatsoever!! Each raft is being helmed by a qualified guide who will teach you the basic skills you require and guide you safely down the river.

What do I Need to Bring?

You will need a swimming costume, a towel, some shoes (that will get wet) and above all a sense of humor. Freespirits will provide you with a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, and helmet.

Do I Need to be Able to Swim?

No need, everybody wears a buoyancy aid so you can float away till your heart's content.

How old do you need to be?

You have to be 6 years old to go rafting on the River Tay and 16 years old for the River Tummel or any of the Grade 5 rivers that we run.

The River Tay Grades 1-3 £35.00pp Every day except Saturdays during the Tummel season.
The River Tummel Grades 2-5 £40.00pp Dam released. Saturdays and Sunday mornings June-mid September.
The River Garry Grades 3-4 *prices vary Weather dependent.
The River Orchy Grades 3-5 £80.00pp
*prices vary		 Weather dependent. Mainly a winter river or after a lot of rain.
The River Morriston Grades 2-5 *prices vary Dam released. Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
The River Braan Grades 2-4 *prices vary Weather dependent.

*Prices may vary depending on the group size.

As there are a few rivers that we run that are very weather dependent we offer a 'best river day' trip. Depending on the water levels on that day we choose what river would be the best. If you have one in mind then let us know and we would run that one if possible that day. The Orchy, the Morriston and the Braan are better in nice high water.
